Breeding Birds of the FDR Estate

The walk will focus on the breeding birds that make their home on the FDR estate during the summer months. Participants will learn to identify a variety of local bird species by both sight and sound, with insights into their behavior, habitats, and ecological roles. This immersive experience will also include tips for observing and supporting avian life in your own surroundings. Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars.

Alan Peterson is a lifelong birder and the Education Chair of the Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club of Dutchess County. A retired veterinarian with a Master’s degree in zoology, Dr. Peterson brings decades of expertise in both animal health and field observation to his birding practice. His passion for birds and education continues to inspire naturalists of all ages throughout the Hudson Valley.
